Men's breakfast at Mulvany House
The men’s breakfast was well attended and the food well devoured!
Our special speaker, Tony Baker from Eastbourne in the UK spoke after the
breakfast on ” Why I am still a Christian? “.
He pointed out that we could face death at any any time,
which always comes into focus when we loose a great friend or family
member.
In the so called post modern world in which we are living, it seems all
so often that there isn’t any actual TRUTH, but just the individual truth
chosen by each one of us. Atheism seems to become the world view of many
in the Western world. A liberal and secular life style is nowadays
pronounced as the way of tolerance. So with all that in mind Tony asked himself the
question ” Why I am still a Christian? ” and gave 10 reasons,
knowing that more could be found. The 10 points he made were:
1. Resurrection of Jesus
2. Person of Jesus
3. Death of Jesus
4. Peace with God through Jesus’ death
5. The Grace of God in Jesus: The totally undeserved love of God
6. Scripture’s focus on Jesus
7. God’s people who show me Jesus
8. The worldview provided by Jesus
9. The promised return of Jesus Christ
10. God saves and keeps me in Jesus.
A number of people stayed behind until late in the morning to talk individually with Tony on a variety of issues.
